Below is the Hierarchy listed with their current descriptions.
----------
The King: A patriarchal male of the highest of ranks, ruling over a particular land or kingdom and all the subjets therein. The king's words are the law of the land.
The Queen: A matriarchal female of the highest of ranks, ruling over a particular land or kingdom and all the subjects therein. The queen's words are the law of the land. A king is not required for the existence of a queen.
Advisers: Being of any gender, the advisers tend to be the ones who will give advice to the king or queen. They must have vast knowledge in spiritual, political and military subjects, whether it be knowing from experience or having learned over the years. They must be capable of advising either alpha with whatever they ask. The adviser can often be asked to play messenger as well, relaying news between packs. This is not a rank that is easily earned, demanding the utmost trust and loyalty, and it is often wrought with danger in wartime, the adviser a key packmember who holds valuable information that enemy packs would go to great lengths to obtain.
The Heir: Usually a child produced by the king and queen, though it has been known to agree upon a relative from either side or even one which is not of the royal family, should no royal heirs be born.
Betas: Typically, this rank is held by a breeding pair capable of succeeding the alphas, but this is not always the case. Some leaders may choose independent betas with no relationship ties, and on rare occasion the chosen betas may even belong to the same gender. They are second-in-command after the King and Queen and will be put in charge should the Royal pair need to be away from the pack for a period of time. There are times that the king or queen will have a beta address their pack if they are unable to do it themselves (usually only being if they have fallen ill.) Often times, if the adviser is not suitable to the task, the beta will be asked to play Messenger.
The Guardians: The Lead Guardian is always at the head of the guardians. They will manage where and what the guardians will be doing, when. They are entrusted specifically by the king and/or queen and they will be in charge of training recruits. Guardians are expected to look out for the packs general safety and happiness, ensuring that others are doing their jobs and that everyone is keeping in line. They will often be found scouting the borders of the pack or keeping an eye on the pack itself.
The General: The General is second-in-command when it comes to commanding the armies of their specific pack. If the alpha is unable to go into battle, the beta will relay messages to the general or the general will take over entire command. They must be very knowledgeable in military strategics, from defense to offense, including weaponry (poisonous plants, natural things available to their advantage), and the layout of land. In times of crisis, the general may even outrank the beta.
The Warriors: Warriors are trained to fight in a battle, such as wars, claiming of another packs territory, and defending their own. They must be trained in defense and offense, as well as military strategics. In wartime, any packwolf may be assigned the rank of warrior, though in peacetime and even high tension situations, only wolves specifically trained in battle may lay claim to this title.
The Hunters: The Lead Hunter is in charge of taking the initiative to decide the right times and places to hunt for game and what game is being hunted at that time. The leader is required to have knowledge in offense and defense, should something go wrong and will be the one who trains any recruits. S/he must know what plants/foods are poisonous and what is healthy for eating or what game is not in the proper 'season'. The hunters will take down large game in a large group, with skilled tactics to bring down the animal. When not hunting in a group, any wolf of a pack is allowed to hunt for small game on their own.
The Healers: The Lead Healer is the wolf who ensures all his/her Healers in their rankings are knowledgable enough or have enough field training experience to handle healing on their own. The Lead Healer decides which wolf goes with the hunters, warriors, et cetera. Very important part of the group, as these are the wolves that heal any injuries and care for those fallen ill or injured. They must have extensive knowledge in healing herbs and mixtures as well as knowledge in ailments.
The Elders: The Elders are a very valued wolven in the pack. They have the wisdom and experience that younger wolves do not have. Elders generally range from the age of ten and up and are always consulted in the council. Many elders also double as advisers, but this is not always true.
Bards: Though few in number, bards are a highly valued asset to any pack. A well-trained bard is skilled in the art of song and story-telling, and despite the fact that these wolves are revered by children, they are noble and proud and provide the alphas with valuable information about the other packs and the history of the land. Most bards are also quite adept at healing and possess vast spiritual wisdom. Bards may be any age or gender, but older males are most common. Some alphas request that a bard be trained and then sent away from the territory for a while in order to spread tales and rumors of the pack to feed a reputation or notoriety.
Gammas: These are the general pack members. This rank is usually transitory, reserved for newcomers who have not yet proven themselves to the leaders, as most wolves demonstrate specialized skills and advance to a higher rank. The gammas do not attend the council, but they may choose a representative to send to the alphas.
Omegas: The lowest ranked wolf. They did something to be reduced to such a low rank, but had a reason for being kept in the pack, or they were simply never fit for any of the higher rankings. Having such a low rank is usually looked down upon by higher ranked wolves. Omega's generally eat last, are not entrusted with childcare, do not sit at the council, et cetera. These wolves must do something to get the attention of the alphas or earn their way back up to higher ranks through good deeds and skills.
