Getting Started
First thing is first – in order to be successful on Requiem you’re going to want to read and follow the Rules. This is one of the most important steps to getting started and setting you up on your way. We welcome any and all roleplayers to join at any time and we do not keep track of whether or not anyone has actually read the rules, however, if they are not followed, the roleplayer to break them will be given a limited number of warnings dependent on the severity, after which, if the warnings have not been heeded, their membership will be terminated. This goes for everyone.
The Hierarchy will give you an idea of the types of ranks your Character can attempt to achieve for themselves – these ranks are ONLY able to be acquired while in a pack however, and can ONLY be granted to a wolf by the Leader. No lone wolf will have a rank and newcomers do not enter already having one – newcomers are often viewed as the lowest possible rank of the pack(no rank) and must prove themselves worthy of remaining in the pack. A rank for a wolf is essentially like a human paying rent to live in their home - you pay your way by providing a skill or asset to the pack.
Before creating your character, you will want to check out the Pack Alignments and decide upon which would best suit your character or their personality. If you have a more accepting, kinder wolf, perhaps Cthonia – the pure pack, will be for you. If you have a character with a more neutral, unbiased personality that sways in neither direction, Tuatha – the neutral pack, will be for you. If you have a character that is hardened to others, and less kind, Torqueo – the dark pack, would be for that character. However, keep in mind that pure DOES NOT mean a wolf is weak, nor does dark mean a wolf is evil. Each wolf is entirely individual, even in the individual packs, and therefore, no personality is exactly alike. Please be as creative as possible with your characters personality.
While creating your character’s profile, you’ll want to check out the Character Profile Template that we already have set up. Copy it and paste it with the filled in information upon whichever board you would prefer to set your wolf loose upon. When entering a packs lands, the absolute best way to get a response is to post into the Main RP(listed in each pack’s roleplay board and often stickied for your convenience), and make yourself noticed. If you wish to post outside of the Main RP and simply have your character in the lands and approachable by anyone, you’re free to do so, but keep in mind that a wolf cannot be in several places at once, so if the wolves of that pack are preoccupied elsewhere, it will make it harder to get a response. In the Lost Lands, choose whichever territory you would like and start a thread or reply to another that is active(check dates of last post) – we may later make a more convenient way of noting which threads are dead and which are active. When creating your character, please use a breed or species that is real and acceptable upon Requiem(any canine). Sizing preferences, eye colors, markings, distinguishable features, etc are all acceptable within reason.
Another thing to take note of is any Bans that may be in effect at the moment. Check this out and make sure your wolf is not on the list of restrictions – this list will be constantly changed, however, we will provide updates as this happens.
Although Requiem follows as close to realism as possible, our wolves do not necessarily carry ALL the typical wolf behaviors that one would see in the real wild, therefore, how your character is with others is entirely flexible here on Requiem. Your wolf does not have to actively submit or defer to superiors(although recommended if you’re not part of the pack and you are in their lands), and your wolf can be dominant, submissive, etc. Keep in mind that wolves do not actually ‘alpha roll’ one another in the wild, but have what is often known as ‘active submission’, where the inferior wolf will automatically submit or defer to those of higher rank than themselves, often requiring no real physical harm to come to either wolf. Most often, you’ll find the superior gives subtle signals showing their displeasure of another, such as lip curling, growling, staring, posturing, etc. More information on typical wild wolf behavior, etc, coming soon.
When posting, if you wish to use a table(which is entirely up to each individual roleplayer), you can visit our table Codes to get the code and fill in the appropriate information.
If you’re confused about anything, please feel free to message Sighani, Asphyxia(Rei), or post in the Help/Questions Board
For ideas, suggestions or any plot ideas you have, please go to the Ideas/Suggestions Board and post them there! We’re always open to any!
Last, but not least, please check out the FAQ and see if any questions you have, have been answered there before asking.
