CORVIDAE / CORVUS - IN THE LOST LANDS
Given Name: Her true name is Corvidae Necromortis, though most will occasionally hear her call herself Corvus Necromortis instead.
Nicknames: Corvy, though this is reserved for friends and family.
Gender: Female [physically and mentally half of the time]
Age: 5 months
Breed: Timber wolf
Height: She is still growing and hasn't yet developed her adult size
Weight: She is still growing and hasn't yet developed her adult size
Eye Color: A deep and dark, sometimes almost black, sapphire hue.
Coat Color: The fur that cover her body is mostly a very deep ebony, with nary a strand of another color to marr its perfection, except when we come to her face, about half of which is covered with bright ivory.
Scars/Markings: The tick coat of fur that adorns her body hides many a scar, though most of the time not even she realizes they are there. It might be worthy to mention that the white-colored marking in her head is shaped almost perfectly in the shape of a crow's skull.
Mother: Arista Luxcrinis
Father: Carnage Mortus
Siblings: Biologically speaking, she is an only child. There is however, someone she calls her brother and truly considers that, his name is Corvus Necromortis.
Personality: Crovidae has a usually sweet nature and easy disposition...so long as you don't make her angry. This little pup can become a ball of hot anger and bristled fluff when the situation calls for it, but this is only on extreme occacions and when you have either annoyed her for too long or seriously stepped on one of her 'delicate issues' and mentioned something you probably shouldn't.
She is also a very loving creature, and once you make your way into her heart it is very difficult to make your way out and only the most awful of betrayals will make her turn her back on you. Sadly enough she was also mostly deprived of love in the earliest stages of her puphood, so perhaps this is the reason why she gives her affection so easily, hoping to receive some in exchange.
Well, that about covers it for Corvidae, not a very complex or overly confusing personality, though that is probably expected of someone who has spent so little time in this world to develop that personality. But as stated, this only cover Corvidae, and it is when we move to include Corvus in the equation that things get interesting.
You see, Corvidae calls Corvus her brother, and truly believes with all her heart that they are siblings. The thing is, Corvus is her, or at least a personality split off and independant of her psyche. This little girl suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder and that identity calls itself Corvus and thinks of itself as male, not to mention that it develops completely separate from Corvidae herself.
Now Corvus seems to be all Corvidae is not. He is hard of head and heart, very stubborn and set in his ways so that it is not at all easy to make him see things a different way or change his mind once some idea has nestled there. He is also much harder to please than his 'sister' and likes to rudely critique everything and everyone. He may also appear bratish and is very snappy when someone offends either he or his main personality. He calls himself the Dark to Corvidae's Light.
Perhaps the most important thing to mention about Corvus is that he is very, exptremely, almost ridiculously protective of Corvidae. He claims he was born to protect her and protect her he does, always has and always will if he has anything to say about it. When someone hurts the girl, whether emotionally or physically, Corvus gets very prone to come out and bite and/or scratch the idiot's face off with a ferocity that is not at all normal in such a young pup. He also gets very deeply offended (and pissed off) when someone even remotely suggest that he/Corvidae are crazy.
Mate: None as of yet, she is much too young to be thinking of such things, plus there is the little matter of split personalities, or protective brother, to consider. She seriously doesn't think she will ever have a mate, and is not bothered by it at all...not yet at least.
Whelps: None
Alignment: Corvidae herself is most assuredly light-aligned, with her sweet temperament, loving nature and absolute hate of fear, chaos and murder there simply isn't any other way to classify this girl. Corvus, however, is not at all like his sister, and falls in the category of neutral at the best of times and outright dark at others, due to his violence and, in certain occasions, bloodlust. So, in a manner of speaking, she is both at the same time.
History: Corvidae's begginings are not exactly happy or enviable. Her mother, Arista, a lone Light-aligned female, suffered a very unfortunate and rather violent encounter with a wandering male. Corvidae is the result of said encounter. From the moment the pup was born, she became a constant reminder to her mother of the horrifying conditions under which she was conceived. With time, what started as subconscious dislike turned into outright spite. Arista never really recovered from what happened and became a danger to herself and her puppy. The embittered female started to fill her daughter’s head with ideas and fears, constantly telling her how she would end up being hurt by some male because she was too innocent and sweet, and ignorant and stupid.
As Corvidae grew and started to resemble her sire even more, Arista’s condition worsened. The older female suffered occasional psychotic breakdown and what had once been mere scorn for the dark-pelted pup turned into hysteric anger. During these episodes, she would sometimes hurt the child physically as well as emotionally.
Corvidae, who was a very sweet child from the start, could simply not deal with the knowledge of the damage her beloved mother dished out on her and started to block out the memories from this encounters to the back of her mind, her subconscious. As the amount of memories grew, and she added emotions and even thoughts to this mental cage, they all started to split off her individual psyche and develop into their own. That is when Corvus was born.
Now, as Corvus is a part of Corvidae, he shows the same maturity and age-corresponding intelligence as her. Because the two of them were still very young when they first split up, they grew up believing their relationship to be normal and thinking of each other as siblings, oftentimes hearing the other’s voice inside their shared mind and communicating this way. Since Corvus was born from the discarded memories of abuse and hate, he was the darker personality, the one who bore the hurt of their mother’s abuse. For two more months, he took control of their body whenever Arista’s hate reared its ugly head. Corvidae never once knew about this.
During one such episode, Arista seemed to completely lose control of herself and caused some serious injuries on the pup’s body, and there was no way to tell if she would stop before killing the little one. Corvus, hurt and sick of having to stand it all, confronted her. He was still much to small to cause her any damage or drive her off, but he did manage to scratch her up enough to hightail out of there. He stayed in control for days on end, for the first time ever, while their body healed, not willing to allow his sister to bare the pain.
They have stayed together since then, away from the place where they were born and wandering around the lost lands by themselves, and although Corvidae feels very tempted to go back home, she likes to listen to her brother and so does not defy what he thinks is best,
